VMware for University of Delaware
As of May 2024, Broadcom is providing free licenses for VMWare Workstation Pro for Windows and Linux, and VMWare Fusion for Mac, for personal use.
Where the University of Delaware previously funded and provided licenses for coursework use, there is now a new process to get these VMWare products for free directly from Broadcom for students, staff and faculty:
Register for a personal Broadcom account
- If you already have a Broadcom account, skip to the Download instruction steps below.
- To register, go to the Broadcom registration form here.
- Create an account.
- Students – Using a personal email address is recommended, as no affiliation with UDel is required.
- Faculty/Instructors – your access allows classroom use, so using a UDelNet email is recommended as your personal Broadcom account.

- A verification code may be sent to the email address, you specified above. Go to your email to retrieve that code and enter it into the verification page.

Download VMware Workstation and/or VMware Fusion
- Go to support.broadcom.com and sign in with the personal Broadcom account credentials you created above.
- In the top left of the Broadcom Support page, click on Software → VMWare Cloud Foundation → My Downloads at the top left.
- Search for either "Workstation" (for VMware Workstation Pro) or ‘Fusion’ (for VMWare Fusion).
- Click the name of the product you wish to download in the search results page.
- In the list on the next page, depending on what you chose above, click on either:
- VMware Workstation Pro for Personal Use (Windows or Linux), or
- VMWare Fusion Pro for Personal Use
- NOTE: You are only eligible to download these two specific products.
- Choose the Release version of the product you wish to download.
- Check the box near the top of the download page that indicates you agree to the Terms and Conditions of the download.
- Click the download icon (a cloud with a ↓) to download the version you want.
- Note: You may need to provide additional verification details. You will not be able to download the installer until the account is verified.
