About the University of Delaware Central IT Code 42 CrashPlan Implementation
The UD’s Central IT organization has purchased a limited number of licenses for Code42 CrashPlan to be used on (University owned machines or faculty/staff machines being used for University business). Each license allows for installation by a single user on up to four devices.
The Central IT implementation is a “Hybrid” implementation. This means that all data is stored by Code42 CrashPlan in the cloud and is encrypted locally (on you machine) before being transferred. Ony the user ad a few designated Central IT personnel can retrieve/restore data from the cloud location. They vendor does not possess the encryption keys, which are located on a server accessible only to those University personnel.
